Dawn Chua is a Senior Legal Associate with Amica Law LLC. Dawn’s main areas of practice relate to contractual and commercial transactions in the fields of intellectual property and information technology. She also advises on compliance and regulatory issues in relation to data protection/data privacy, as well as payment services.

 

Additionally, Dawn has experience in working with clients in managing their global trade mark portfolios and developing and protecting their intellectual property rights. This includes the filing, registration, and prosecution of trade marks including contentious trade mark actions such as opposition proceedings, as well as advising on strategies for protection of client trade mark rights worldwide. She has acted for clients in various industries, including gaming, food and beverage, hospitality, entertainment, telecommunications, and consumer products.

 

Dawn graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2016 with an LL.B (Hons) degree, and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2017. She holds a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Asia (CIPP/A) qualification.

Her work encompasses advising clients on:

• Drafting and review of intellectual property contracts, such as franchises, licenses, assignments, and transfer of technology agreements

• Preparation and review of online website terms and conditions and privacy policies

• Protection of domain names, including filing of domain name dispute complaints

• Contentious intellectual property matters, including trade mark opposition, revocation and invalidation actions

• Drafting of software development agreements for turnkey and bespoke projects

• Drafting of general commercial transactions relating to supply, manufacturing and distribution arrangements

• Advising on e-commerce, data protection and confidentiality issues, including drafting e-commerce terms of service and use, privacy policies and internal data protection policies and documents, advising on data protection compliance issues and management of data breach incidents, and conduct of training sessions

• Advising on media and entertainment corporations in a variety of transactions including commissioning contracts, publishing contracts, event promotion and ticketing contracts, and venue hiring agreements

• Management of the global trade mark portfolio of a leading gaming hardware company, and advising strategies for protection of its trade mark rights worldwide

• Advising on Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) regulatory and compliance requirements in relation to the Payment Services Act, reviewing supporting documents for compliance with the relevant payment services rules and regulations, and assisting in applications to obtain a payment services licence
